Sitamarhi Murder : Bike-Borne Assailants Gun Down Criminal Case Accused at Bhisa Laxmi Chowk

Criminal activities continue unabated in Bihar, with another shocking murder reported from Sitamarhi district. In a brazen attack, bike-borne assailants shot dead Ram Babu Rai at Bhisa Laxmi Chowk under Dumra police station limits. The incident took place on Saturday evening, triggering panic across the locality.

The murder occurred in Ward-35 of the Dumra area, one of the busy pockets of Sitamarhi town. Ram Babu Rai, who was accused in several serious criminal cases including murder and robbery, was riddled with bullets at close range. He died on the spot after sustaining multiple gunshot injuries.

Soon after the firing, chaos spread across Bhisa Laxmi Chowk. Locals rushed to the spot, while shopkeepers hurriedly downed shutters fearing further violence. Within minutes, the entire market area turned deserted, reflecting the fear among residents.

Victim Was Returning Home From Dumra Court

According to family members, Ram Babu Rai had gone to Dumra Court earlier in the day. He was returning home around 4:30 pm on Saturday. While nearing his residence, he stopped his motorcycle near a chicken shop at Bhisa Laxmi Chowk. He reportedly began talking to someone at the spot.

At the same time, three criminals riding a white Apache motorcycle followed him from the Dumra side. As soon as they reached close, the attackers opened indiscriminate fire. Multiple bullets hit Ram Babu Rai, causing him to collapse on the road.

Eyewitnesses said the firing was sudden and relentless. The attackers did not give the victim any chance to escape or respond. Within seconds, Ram Babu Rai lay motionless, bleeding heavily on the road.

Accused Dies on the Spot After Sustaining Multiple Gunshot Wounds

Locals rushed towards the injured man after the assailants fled. However, by the time people reached him, Ram Babu Rai had already succumbed to his injuries. The intensity of firing left no scope for medical help.

Ram Babu Rai was the son of late Ram Vinay Rai and a resident of Bhisa Ward-35. The murder site is located barely 400 metres from his residence. The proximity of the crime scene to his home has further shocked local residents.

Angry family members and local residents later blocked the Bhisa Chowk road. They demanded immediate arrest of the accused and strict action against criminals operating in the area.

Criminals Escape While Firing Towards NH-22

After committing the murder, the three assailants continued firing to terrorize people. They fled through the railway gumti route towards National Highway-22. Their escape route suggests prior planning and familiarity with the area.

The sound of gunshots echoed across nearby localities. People shut themselves indoors, fearing further violence. Traffic movement in the area was disrupted for some time following the incident.

Police sources said the attackers used firearms openly, indicating growing confidence among criminals. The incident has raised serious questions over law and order in Sitamarhi district.

Heavy Police Deployment After Incident

Soon after receiving information, Dumra police rushed to the spot. Senior officers also arrived and inspected the crime scene. The body was sent for postmortem examination under police supervision.

Police collected empty cartridges and other forensic evidence from the site. CCTV footage from nearby shops and roads is also being examined to identify the attackers.

Officials said preliminary investigation suggests old enmity could be behind the killing. However, police are probing all possible angles, including gang rivalry and past criminal disputes.

Public Anger Over Rising Crime in Sitamarhi

The murder has intensified public anger against rising crime in Sitamarhi. Residents say criminals are operating fearlessly, even in crowded market areas. Many questioned the effectiveness of police patrolling and surveillance.

Locals alleged that criminals involved in serious cases continue to roam freely. They demanded increased police presence and stricter action against repeat offenders.

The incident once again highlights the deteriorating law and order situation in parts of Bihar. Despite repeated claims of action, such crimes continue to surface regularly.

Investigation Underway, Search for Accused On

Police have launched a search operation to trace the attackers. Checkpoints have been set up on key routes, including NH-22. Raids are being conducted at suspected hideouts.

Officers said identification of the attackers will be possible soon with the help of eyewitness accounts and technical evidence. Police have assured that arrests will be made at the earliest.

Meanwhile, tension continues in the Bhisa Laxmi Chowk area. Police personnel remain deployed to prevent any untoward incident. Authorities have appealed to residents to maintain peace and cooperate with the investigation.

The killing of Ram Babu Rai has once again exposed the boldness of criminals in Sitamarhi. The coming days will test how swiftly law enforcement responds to restore public confidence and curb violent crime.
