A significant railway development plan has been proposed in North Bihar. This proposal targets the doubling of the Dumra-Parsauni bypass rail line. This bypass is part of the crucial Muzaffarpur-Sitamarhi rail section. The proposed construction promises substantial benefits. It will improve services for passengers in North Bihar. The project will also yield considerable operational advantages for the railway system.
Bypass Doubling to Ease Sitamarhi Congestion
The doubling proposal aims to alleviate major congestion issues. Specifically, it will reduce the heavy train traffic load at Sitamarhi Station. The current limited number of platforms at Sitamarhi Railway Station is a significant bottleneck. Furthermore, the routing of freight trains through the station severely impacts the operation of Mail and Express trains.
By constructing the Dumra-Parsauni bypass, the overall train movement is expected to improve. This upgrade will significantly enhance punctuality and time management for all services. The new line is considered a major boon for the operational efficiency of the Sitamarhi station.
Survey Commences on Seven-Kilometer Bypass
Following an order from the Chief Transport Planning Manager (CTPM) of East Central Railway, a survey has officially begun. A dedicated team of supervisory-level railway officials from the Samastipur Railway Division is jointly conducting this survey. The planned bypass line is approximately seven kilometers long. This short bypass is key to rerouting crucial freight traffic.
Once the bypass is complete, freight trains bound for Darbhanga and New Jalpaiguri will utilize a direct route. They will travel straight from Dumra to Parsauni, completely bypassing Sitamarhi Station. Currently, all trains must go through Sitamarhi to proceed towards Darbhanga or Raxaul. This current necessity leads to delays due to the need for engine changes.
Streamlining Passenger and Freight Movement
The new bypass will allow trains to proceed seamlessly. The route will travel through Parsauni Station, Bajpatti Station, and Janakpur Road toward Darbhanga. This direct routing will save considerable time for freight trains. This reduction in pressure on Sitamarhi Station will benefit Mail and Express trains. Passengers will reach their destinations more reliably and on time.
Railway officials have already prepared the map for this crucial infrastructure project. The process of land acquisition will commence shortly after the survey report is finalized. The new bypass promises to simplify travel considerably.
Major Doubling Project on Muzaffarpur-Sitamarhi Section
In a related development, the Samastipur Division of East Central Railway has issued a tender. This tender is for the comprehensive doubling of the entire Muzaffarpur-Sitamarhi rail section. This expansive work will cover a distance of 58.740 kilometers. The estimated cost for this massive doubling project is Rs 635.39 crore.
This large-scale infrastructure investment will have far-reaching effects. It is expected to strengthen several major tourist circuits. This includes the Ramayana, Buddha, and Shiva Circuits.
Enhanced Rail Travel and Construction Scope
The doubling of the entire rail line will ensure exceptionally smooth rail travel between Muzaffarpur and Sitamarhi. The construction will facilitate significant time savings. It will also make the entire train operation process more efficient.
The construction scope is extensive. It includes major earthwork and blanketing. The project involves building minor bridges and construction of station and other buildings. Platform work is also a key part of the project. Furthermore, the work includes modifications to level crossings and various other essential railway construction works.
