Mother Dairy Announces Price Reduction on Various Products, New Rates Effective from 22nd September

In a relief for consumers, Mother Dairy has decided to reduce the prices of several dairy and food products. This decision comes as part of the company’s efforts to pass on the benefits of the latest GST reforms to the customers. The new prices will be effective from 22nd September 2025. However, the prices of pouch milk will remain unchanged as the company has made it clear that they will not reduce the prices of pouch milk since it has never been subject to any taxes.

Which Products Will See a Price Reduction?

Mother Dairy’s price cut will affect a wide range of products including milk, paneer, butter, ghee, milkshakes, and ice cream. The company has decided to make these essential dairy products more affordable for the consumers. For instance, the price of 500 grams of butter has decreased from ₹305 to ₹285. Similarly, the price of Butterscotch Cone ice cream has been reduced from ₹35 to ₹30. Additionally, the prices of UHT (Ultra-High Temperature) milk have also been cut by up to ₹2.

No Impact on Pouch Milk Prices

It is important to note that there will be no change in the price of pouch milk. Mother Dairy has clarified that products like full cream, toned, and cow’s milk in poly packs will not see any price changes. The company has stated that these products were already exempt from GST, which is why their prices remain unaffected. Mother Dairy’s Managing Director, Manish Bandlish, emphasized that as a consumer-focused organization, the company is passing on the full benefit of tax reductions to its customers. He further added that this move is part of the company’s first major step under the GST 2.0 reforms. The question now is whether other major FMCG companies will also follow suit and reduce the prices of their packaged products.
