Maniac Son-in-Law Kills Mother-in-Law and Attacks Sister-in-Law in Muzaffarpur

In a shocking incident in Muzaffarpur’s Maniyari, a man brutally killed his mother-in-law with a sharp weapon. The accused also attacked his sister-in-law, leaving her seriously injured. The motive behind the attack is believed to be a dispute over money. According to reports, the accused had asked his mother-in-law for money to build a house. When she refused, he attacked her with a sharp weapon. The police are investigating the matter, and efforts are underway to arrest the accused.

Details of the Murder and Attack

The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday in the Amarkh village of Chainpur Wazid Panchayat in Maniyari. The accused, identified as Mohammad Naushad Alam (50), attacked his mother-in-law, Shakila Khatun (65), with a sharp weapon known as a ‘dabiya’. He struck her on the neck, leading to her immediate death. When Shakila’s daughter, Tarannum Praveen (22), attempted to intervene and raise an alarm, Naushad attacked her as well. He struck her on the head, causing severe injuries. Tarannum is currently undergoing treatment at SKMCH (Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital) in Muzaffarpur.

According to the police, Tarannum informed them that around 11 am, her brother-in-law, Naushad, arrived at the field where Shakila and Tarannum were working. He began arguing with Shakila, demanding money for constructing a house. When Shakila refused, Naushad attacked her with the sharp weapon he had concealed in his waist. The assault resulted in Shakila’s immediate death. In the ensuing chaos, when Tarannum tried to stop him and cried for help, Naushad struck her head and fled the scene.

Family Background and Previous Tensions

Shakila Khatun, who worked as a laborer to support her family, had married off her second daughter, Tarannum, to Naushad Alam. After the marriage, Naushad had settled in Amarkh village. Villagers revealed that Naushad was an alcoholic and often got into arguments with his mother-in-law over money. There had been previous incidents of conflict, including a dispute over finances just two days before the murder.

Tarannum’s mother had reportedly suffered physical abuse at Naushad’s hands. Tarannum herself mentioned that when Naushad had beaten her up a few days ago, the family had filed a complaint with the police. Naushad was arrested by the Maniyari police but was later released. According to local PACS (Primary Agricultural Credit Society) president Iftikhar Ahmad, Naushad had been torturing the family for a long time, which was well known among the villagers.

Investigation and Police Efforts

The local police are actively investigating the case and are currently searching for Naushad, who has fled after committing the crime. The police have assured that they will soon apprehend the accused and bring him to justice. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, as such brutal acts of violence within families are rare in the region.

This gruesome incident has highlighted the growing issue of domestic violence and the potential consequences of unresolved financial disputes within families. The tragedy in Muzaffarpur serves as a reminder of the need for better interventions and legal support systems for vulnerable family members. The authorities are working to ensure that justice is served and that Naushad faces the full consequences of his actions.
