UPP UP Police Constable Vacancy 2026 : Age Relaxation Extended to Home Guard Volunteers

The Uttar Pradesh Police Constable Recruitment 2026 has brought significant relief to thousands of aspirants. Home Guard volunteers applying for the 32,679 constable posts will now receive a three-year relaxation in the maximum age limit. The decision aligns with the age relaxation announced earlier for all categories by the state government on January five.

The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board clarified this update through its official website. There was earlier confusion regarding whether Home Guard volunteers would benefit from the revised age criteria. The recruitment board has now confirmed that Home Guard volunteers are eligible for the same three-year age relaxation. This clarification has removed uncertainty among applicants who serve or have served as Home Guards.

Major Boost Expected in Application Numbers

With the extension of the age limit across all categories, the UP Police Constable recruitment is expected to see a massive rise in applications. Initially, the number of applications was estimated to be around thirty lakh. After the age relaxation decision, officials now expect more than forty lakh applications.

The increased interest reflects the scale of the recruitment drive and the trust aspirants place in government jobs. The age relaxation has reopened opportunities for candidates who were earlier declared overage under previous criteria.

Revised Age Eligibility for Different Categories

Under the revised rules, candidates from the General and Economically Weaker Section categories who are below twenty five years of age can apply. Women candidates have also been granted a three-year relaxation in the maximum age limit.
