In a bid to strengthen the Anganwadi system in Uttar Pradesh, the state government is set to fill 7,952 positions for Anganwadi workers and 61,254 positions for Anganwadi helpers. These vacancies will be filled under the guidance of district magistrates, who have been tasked with forming committees at the district level. Each district will upload the details of the vacant positions on the official portal, and interested candidates can apply through this platform.
The Uttar Pradesh government has already sent instructions regarding the recruitment process to all districts through the Directorate of Child Development Services and Nutrition. The primary qualification for these positions is that applicants must have passed their 12th-grade examination. The age limit for these positions is between 18 and 35 years.
Eligibility and Age Requirements
To apply for the Anganwadi worker and helper positions, candidates must have completed their 12th grade. The age of applicants should be between 18 to 35 years. Women above the age of 35 years will not be eligible to apply.
In the case of Anganwadi helpers, 50% of the vacant positions will be filled by Anganwadi workers who have completed at least five years of service in rural areas or at the ward level in urban areas. These candidates must also meet the age requirement of a maximum of 50 years. Women above this age limit will not be eligible for these positions.
Candidates who have taken unauthorized leave for three months or more will not be considered for these roles. Additionally, women who belong to families living below the poverty line, widows, divorcees, or abandoned women will be given priority in the recruitment process.
Vacancy Breakdown for Anganwadi Workers and Helpers
The total number of 7,952 vacancies for Anganwadi workers includes 2,123 vacancies from the previous year’s recruitment drive that remain unfilled. These positions became vacant due to issues such as incorrect documentation, applications not conforming to reservation rules, or selected candidates failing to join the positions after being selected. The remaining 5,523 positions are a result of new Anganwadi centers being established in the state.
For Anganwadi helpers, there are 61,254 vacancies. Out of these, 38,994 positions were created due to workers retiring after reaching the age of 62 or due to death. Additionally, 22,260 vacancies have been created as part of the upgrading process of mini Anganwadi centers to full-fledged centers.
Anganwadi workers will receive a monthly honorarium of ₹7,500, while Anganwadi helpers will receive ₹3,750 as their monthly payment.
Recruitment Process and Priority in Selection
In the recruitment process, special priority will be given to women who are widows, divorced, or abandoned and belong to families living below the poverty line. If candidates are unavailable from the village panchayat level, the selection will proceed according to the categories at the Nyaya Panchayat level.
This recruitment process will ensure there are no backlogs. Previously, some positions remained unfilled due to various issues such as candidates not being available or not joining the roles. This time, however, these positions will be filled on time, and there will be no backlog in the recruitment process.
For the vacant positions of Anganwadi workers, 50% of the vacancies will be filled by Anganwadi helpers. If helpers are not available for these positions, the remaining vacancies will be filled through direct recruitment.
