The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has officially released the admit card for the Group D recruitment exam 2025. Candidates who are appearing for the exam can now download their admit cards by visiting the official website of their respective regional RRB. The Group D recruitment exam is scheduled to take place from November 27, 2025, to January 16, 2025. Through this recruitment process, the Indian Railways plans to fill 32,438 vacancies in various positions.
RRB Group D Exam: Positions and Selection Process
The Group D recruitment exam will cover a wide range of positions within the Indian Railways. These include roles such as Assistant (S&T), Assistant (Workshop), Assistant Bridge, Assistant Carriage and Wagon, Assistant Loco Shed (Diesel), Assistant Loco Shed (Electrical), Assistant Operation (Electrical), Assistant P.Way, Assistant TL and AC (Workshop), Assistant TL and AC, Assistant Track Machine, Assistant TRD, Pointsman B, and Track Maintainer-IV.
The selection of candidates will be done through a two-stage process. The first stage involves the Computer-Based Test (CBT), followed by the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). Only those candidates who pass the CBT will be eligible to appear for the PET. After clearing the PET, candidates will undergo document verification and a medical examination.
CBT Exam Pattern
The Computer-Based Test (CBT) for Group D is scheduled to be conducted for a duration of 90 minutes. The exam will consist of 100 questions, divided into four sections. These sections are General Science, Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, and General Awareness and Current Affairs. Each of the first two sections will have 25 questions, while the third section will contain 30 questions and the final section will have 20 questions.
In the CBT, candidates will lose one-third of the marks for each incorrect answer, as there is negative marking for wrong responses. The marks obtained in the CBT will be normalized, and candidates will be selected for the PET based on their performance. A total of three times the number of vacancies will be called for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET).
Minimum Qualifying Marks for CBT
The minimum qualifying marks in the CBT are set according to the candidate’s category. These are as follows:
UR (Unreserved): 40%
EWS (Economically Weaker Section): 40%
OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 30%
SC (Scheduled Caste): 30%
ST (Scheduled Tribe): 30%
Candidates who meet the minimum qualifying criteria will be eligible to appear for the next stage of the selection process, which is the Physical Efficiency Test (PET).
