
The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) has officially begun the online application process for the Madhya Pradesh State Eligibility Test (MP SET 2025) from October 25, 2025. Eligible and interested candidates can apply through the official websites www.mponline.gov.in or mppsc.mp.gov.in. The last date to submit the online application form is November 20, 2025, and the examination will be conducted on January 11, 2026 (Sunday). Applications will only be accepted online, and no offline forms will be considered.
The MP SET Exam 2025 is conducted by MPPSC to determine the eligibility of candidates for the post of Assistant Professor and Professor in colleges and universities across Madhya Pradesh.
MP SET 2025 Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the MP SET 2025, candidates must hold a Postgraduate degree from a recognized university. Final-year postgraduate students are also eligible to appear for the exam.
For General and OBC (Creamy Layer) candidates, a minimum of 55% marks in postgraduation is mandatory. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), EWS, and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) categories must have at least 50% marks.
Candidates who have completed a PhD degree are given a relaxation of 5% in the required marks.
MP SET 2025 Exam Centers
The MP SET 2025 will be held across 12 cities in Madhya Pradesh. The examination centers will be established in:
Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Shahdol, Satna, Sagar, Ujjain, Narmadapuram, Rewa, Khargone, and Ratlam.
The exam will be conducted in 31 subjects, and the syllabus for each subject will be based on the UGC NET and UGC CSIR NET patterns.

Application Fee for MP SET 2025
The application fee for the Madhya Pradesh State Eligibility Test 2025 varies according to the category of the candidate.
For Madhya Pradesh residents belonging to SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), EWS, and PWD categories, the application fee is Rs. 250, with an additional Rs. 40 portal charge.
For General category candidates and applicants from other states, the fee is Rs. 500, plus Rs. 40 as portal charges.
Candidates who wish to make corrections in their submitted forms will need to pay Rs. 50 per correction session.
MP SET 2025 Exam Pattern and Structure
The MP SET examination will be conducted in compliance with the latest guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi. The exam will consist of two papers — both conducted in a single session of three hours duration without any break.
Paper 1 (Compulsory Paper)
This paper will focus on Teaching and Research Aptitude. It will consist of 50 multiple-choice questions, each carrying 2 marks. All questions will be compulsory, making the paper a total of 100 marks.
Paper 2 (Optional Subject Paper)
This paper will be based on the subject selected by the candidate. It will have 100 objective-type questions, each worth 2 marks, for a total of 200 marks.
Thus, the combined total marks for both papers will be 300 marks, and candidates will have to complete the test in a total duration of three hours.
MP SET 2025 Marking Scheme Overview

There will be no negative marking, and both papers are mandatory for all candidates.
Vacant Posts for Assistant Professors in Madhya Pradesh
According to MPPSC official Ravindra Panchbhai, the notification for the detailed schedule of the MP SET 2025 will be released soon. Currently, more than 560 government colleges in Madhya Pradesh have vacant positions for Assistant Professors. Recruitment will be carried out for nearly 3,500 teaching positions based on the eligibility determined by this exam.
He further added that appointments for 1,600 candidates selected through the Assistant Professor Recruitment Exam 2022 are already underway. Additionally, examinations for 24 subjects were conducted in 2024, and interviews for the qualified candidates are being scheduled.
