Patna Schools to Remain Closed Till January 11 Due to Severe Cold

The Patna district administration has issued an important order regarding school operations in view of the prevailing cold weather. According to the latest directive from the District Magistrate, all government and private schools in Patna will remain closed till January 11 for students up to Class 8. The decision has been taken to safeguard the health of children amid falling temperatures and harsh winter conditions.

The order applies strictly to Classes 1 to 8, for whom complete holidays have been घोषित. During this period, no academic activities will be conducted for these classes. The administration has clarified that the move is preventive in nature and aims to protect younger students from cold-related health issues.

Revised Timings for Classes 9 to 12

While schools will remain closed for junior classes, students of Classes 9, 10, 11, and 12 will continue attending school with revised timings. As per the order, classes for senior students will be conducted from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm only. No academic activity will be allowed before or after this fixed time schedule.

Morning assemblies and early classes have been cancelled to minimize student exposure to low temperatures. The adjusted timing is expected to ensure continuity of studies while maintaining student safety.

Order Applies to All Schools

The district administration has made it clear that the order is mandatory for all schools, including government, private, and aided institutions. School managements have been instructed to strictly follow the guidelines issued by the District Magistrate.

Officials have warned that any school found violating the order may face administrative action. Education department officials will monitor compliance to ensure the directions are followed without exception.

Decision Taken Amid Falling Temperatures

The administration cited continuous temperature drops over the past few days as the primary reason for the decision. Morning and evening cold has intensified across Patna, increasing the risk of seasonal illnesses such as cold, cough, and fever, especially among young children.

Medical experts have also advised caution during extreme winter conditions, as children are more vulnerable to infections during this period. Taking these factors into account, the administration decided to suspend classes for junior students.

Parents and Teachers Welcome the Move

Parents across Patna have welcomed the administration’s decision. Many believe that sending children to school early in the morning during severe cold poses health risks. They feel the temporary closure will help protect children from illness.

Teachers have also supported the revised schedule. According to them, limited school hours for senior classes help balance academics and safety. They added that academic adjustments can be managed later, but student health must remain the priority.

Possibility of Further Review

The district administration has indicated that the situation will be reviewed regularly. Any further decision regarding extension of school closures or resumption of normal timings will depend on upcoming weather conditions.

If cold conditions worsen, the administration may extend the closure period. On the other hand, improvement in weather could lead to schools reopening with normal schedules. Parents and schools have been advised to stay updated through official announcements.

Order Effective Till January 11

For now, the order will remain in effect till January 11. Students from Class 1 to Class 8 will not attend school during this period, while senior classes will follow revised timings. The administration has appealed for cooperation from schools, parents, and students, stating that public health and safety remain the top priority during the winter season.
