A remarkable academic achievement has come from Kharhar village of Minapur block, where twin sisters Shanaya Nishant and Shonaya Nishant have qualified the CSIR-NET examination in Zoology. Shanaya Nishant secured All India Rank 92 and qualified for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), while her twin sister Shonaya also cleared the prestigious national-level examination.
The achievement is particularly significant as both sisters prepared for the examination through self-study while staying in their native village. Instead of moving to a metropolitan city or relying on coaching institutes, they continued their preparation from Minapur with a disciplined study routine and sustained effort.
Both Shanaya and Shonaya completed their M.Sc. in Zoology from L.S. College, Muzaffarpur. Following their postgraduate studies, they focused on competitive examination preparation and continued their academic efforts from their home in Kharhar.
Determination and Self-Study Behind the Success
For many students, preparing for a national-level examination such as CSIR-NET involves moving to established coaching centres in larger cities. Shanaya and Shonaya, however, chose a different path. They remained in their hometown and depended largely on self-study, regular preparation and academic guidance.
Shanaya’s AIR 92 has earned her a place among the successful candidates at the national level and has also opened the door to further academic and research opportunities through JRF. The qualification is an important step towards pursuing doctoral research and a career in higher education and research.
Continued Guidance from Prof. Vipin Kumar
The sisters’ academic journey has also been supported by the guidance of their teachers. Prof. Vipin Kumar has continued to guide Shanaya and Shonaya during their postgraduate studies and even after completing their M.Sc.
His continued academic mentorship has been an important part of their preparation and development, particularly as they moved towards competitive examinations and research-oriented higher education.
Father Expresses Pride in His Daughters
Their father, Kaushlendra Jha, expressed his happiness over the achievement and described it as a proud moment for the family.
“It is a moment of great pride for our family to see our daughters succeed. This achievement would not have been possible without the guidance and support of their teachers. The contribution and continued guidance of Prof. Vipin Kumar, in particular, has always been highly appreciable. He guided both of them during their postgraduate studies and has continued to support them thereafter,” he said.
He also credited his daughters’ dedication and hard work, along with the support and guidance of their teachers, for their success.
The achievement of the two sisters has brought recognition to Kharhar village and Minapur block and offers an encouraging example for students from rural and semi-urban areas aspiring to succeed in national-level academic and competitive examinations.
