The Meteorological Department has released the latest weather update for Bihar for Sunday, February 8, 2026. According to the forecast, the weather across the state will remain completely dry today. There is no possibility of rainfall in any district, and no weather warning or alert has been issued by the department. Overall weather conditions are expected to stay stable throughout the day, making it suitable for routine activities.
However, light fog may be experienced during the early morning hours in some parts of the state. Districts such as Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, Vaishali, and Samastipur may witness mild fog, which could slightly affect visibility. Weather officials have stated that the fog will not be very dense, but drivers and commuters are advised to remain cautious, especially during early travel hours. Fog conditions may also return after 8 or 9 pm in a few areas, which could again reduce visibility during late night hours.
Dry Conditions Expected in Almost All Districts
As per the latest bulletin, dry weather will prevail in almost all districts of Bihar. Districts including Bettiah, Siwan, Saran, Motihari, and Gopalganj are expected to remain rain-free. Similar conditions will be observed in Darbhanga, Vaishali, Purnia, Katihar, and Patna. Gaya, Nalanda, Buxar, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, and Bhagalpur will also experience dry and clear weather throughout the day. Sunshine is likely during daytime hours, and there are no signs of cloud formation or precipitation.
The Meteorological Department has clearly mentioned that there is no forecast of thunderstorms, heavy winds, or any other adverse weather conditions. Residents across the state can continue their daily routines without concern, although caution is advised during foggy periods.
Cold Impact to Continue During Morning and Night
Despite the absence of rainfall, the effect of cold weather will continue in Bihar. The cold will mainly be felt during early mornings and late nights, while daytime temperatures are expected to remain comfortable. Weather experts have said that this pattern may continue for the next few days, with noticeable temperature variation between day and night.
Doctors have advised elderly people and children to take precautions, as sudden changes in weather conditions can affect health. People are encouraged to wear warm clothing during morning and night hours to avoid cold-related illnesses.
Weather Pattern Responsible for Current Conditions
According to meteorologists, the current dry weather in Bihar is due to strong northwesterly winds blowing over northwestern and northeastern India. In addition, a western disturbance is active over the Himalayan region. Due to these atmospheric conditions, moisture levels over Bihar remain low, preventing rainfall or cloud development.
Experts have stated that no significant change in weather is expected in the next two to three days. The overall weather pattern is likely to remain similar, with dry conditions dominating the region.
New Western Disturbance to Affect Himalayan Regions
The Meteorological Department has also informed that a new western disturbance is expected to become active from Sunday night. Its primary impact will be seen over the western Himalayan regions. According to IMD, light rainfall and snowfall are likely in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh between February 9 and 11.
Due to snowfall in higher altitudes, cold winds may move towards the northern plains. This could slightly increase the feeling of cold in plain areas, including Bihar. However, IMD has clarified that there will be no significant change in minimum temperatures over the next two days.
Weather Situation in Other Northern States
On Saturday, rain and snowfall were reported in some parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Dense fog was observed in several regions of Uttarakhand, while many areas in Uttar Pradesh also remained under fog cover. Despite these conditions, no major weather alert has been issued in northern India, and authorities are closely monitoring the situation.
No Alert Issued for Bihar
The Meteorological Department has confirmed that there is no threat of any natural disaster in Bihar at present. No alert or warning has been issued for any district. Weather conditions remain normal and safe for travel, agriculture, and other daily activities.
Residents are advised to stay updated with official weather information and take basic precautions during foggy hours. Farmers can continue agricultural operations as dry weather is favourable for harvesting and field work.
Weather conditions in Bihar are expected to remain stable in the coming days. Dry weather will continue across most districts, while cold mornings and nights may persist for some time. Any significant change in weather will be communicated by the Meteorological Department through official updates.
