Bihar Weather Update : Cold Persists, Gradual Relief Expected After Makar Sankranti

Cold conditions continue across Bihar, though early signs of relief have begun to appear after Makar Sankranti. According to the latest weather assessment, temperatures across the state are likely to remain largely stable for the next two to three days. Both maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to show minimal variation during this period. After this phase, daytime temperatures may begin a slow and steady rise, offering gradual comfort to residents.

The overall weather pattern across Bihar is expected to remain dry for the coming week. While nights will continue to feel cold, daytime conditions may improve slightly as sunshine becomes more frequent. However, fog is likely to remain a major concern in many districts, especially during early morning hours.

Temperature Forecast for Thursday Across Bihar

Weather estimates indicate that on Thursday, the maximum temperature across Bihar may range between 22 and 26 degrees Celsius. Minimum temperatures are expected to remain between 6 and 12 degrees Celsius. Many parts of the state are likely to witness moderate to dense fog, affecting visibility and early morning movement.

On Wednesday, the state recorded maximum temperatures between 21.1 and 26.3 degrees Celsius. Minimum temperatures during the same period ranged from 7.0 to 12.0 degrees Celsius. These readings indicate a continuation of prevailing winter conditions without any sharp fluctuations.

Districts Recording Extreme Temperature Variations

Kishanganj recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 26.3 degrees Celsius. Banka registered the lowest maximum temperature at 21.1 degrees Celsius. These figures reflect regional variations caused by local weather patterns and cloud cover.

The lowest minimum temperature of 7.0 degrees Celsius was recorded in Sabour of Bhagalpur district. Similar minimum readings were also observed in Dehri of Rohtas and in Aurangabad. These locations experienced the coldest nights in Bihar during the last observation period.

Visibility levels dropped sharply in some regions due to dense fog. Valmikinagar in West Champaran recorded the lowest visibility at just 50 meters. Such conditions can disrupt road traffic and train schedules during early hours.

Sunshine Brings Partial Relief in Patna

Patna witnessed sunshine for the third consecutive day, offering partial relief from the cold. Daytime warmth helped residents feel more comfortable compared to earlier days. On Wednesday, Patna recorded a maximum temperature of 21.7 degrees Celsius. This marked a slight increase of 0.1 degree Celsius compared to the previous day.

The minimum temperature in the capital remained unchanged at 10.9 degrees Celsius. With no significant change in temperature, cold conditions persisted, though sunlight helped ease daytime discomfort. People were seen stepping outdoors during afternoon hours, enjoying the mild warmth.

Despite the sunshine, mornings and evenings in Patna remained chilly. Fog continued to appear during early hours, reducing visibility on roads. Weather experts suggest that such conditions may continue for a few more days.

Bhagalpur Weather: Cold Nights Continue Despite Sunshine

Bhagalpur has experienced sunny days for the past few days, even as daytime temperatures declined. The presence of sunshine provided some relief to residents, but nighttime cold remained intense. Despite four days of sunlight, night temperatures stayed confined within low ranges.

In Sabour, the minimum temperature dropped to 7.0 degrees Celsius. Along with Dehri in Rohtas and Aurangabad, Sabour recorded the coldest nights in the state. These regions experienced sharp drops in temperature after sunset.

As evening sets in, the intensity of cold increases rapidly. Nights remain damp with heavy dew, adding to discomfort. Morning hours often begin with a layer of moderate fog covering the city, affecting daily routines.

Fog Remains a Key Weather Concern

Fog continues to be a significant weather feature across Bihar. Many districts are experiencing moderate to dense fog during early morning hours. This fog reduces visibility and increases risks for commuters and travelers.

Rail and road users are advised to remain cautious during morning travel. Reduced visibility can lead to delays and safety concerns. Fog conditions usually start forming late at night and persist until mid-morning in several areas.

Meteorological conditions suggest that fog formation is being supported by low wind speeds and high moisture levels. Until temperatures begin to rise more noticeably, fog is likely to remain a regular occurrence.

IMD Outlook for the Coming Days

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the current weather pattern is expected to continue until Friday. After that, both daytime and nighttime temperatures are likely to rise gradually. This change may reduce the severity of cold, especially during daytime.

During the last 24 hours, the maximum daytime temperature dropped by 0.6 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the minimum nighttime temperature increased by 0.6 degrees Celsius. This trend indicates minor fluctuations rather than major weather shifts.

On Wednesday, Bhagalpur recorded a maximum temperature of 21.3 degrees Celsius. This was slightly above the normal average by 0.2 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature stood at 7.0 degrees Celsius, which was 3.8 degrees below normal.

Dry Weather to Continue Across the State

The weather across Bihar is expected to remain dry over the next week. No significant rainfall activity is predicted during this period. Dry conditions combined with cold nights may continue to influence daily life, especially in rural areas.

Farmers and daily wage workers are likely to feel the impact of cold mornings. However, dry weather provides stability for agricultural activities that require clear conditions. Gradual warming may further improve working conditions in the coming days.

As winter slowly progresses, weather experts expect a steady transition toward milder days. Until then, residents are advised to remain cautious during foggy mornings and cold nights.
