The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has issued a significant announcement regarding the Bihar Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) 2025. Candidates who had raised objections to the provisional answer key for the STET 2025 examination will soon be refunded the extra fee that was charged to them during the process. This announcement provides relief to many candidates who had filed objections between November 24 and November 28, 2025, and had paid more than the required fee.
Details of the Issue
The Bihar Board introduced a new rule on November 27, 2025, which set a fixed fee for filing objections to the answer key of any exam conducted by the board. Under this new system, candidates were required to pay Rs 50 per question to raise an objection. In cases where a candidate raised objections for more than five questions, the total fee would be capped at Rs 250. This meant that regardless of whether a candidate raised objections for 10 or 20 questions, the total fee could not exceed Rs 250.
Technical Issues and Overcharged Fees
Although the board announced the new fee structure on November 27, technical difficulties delayed the immediate implementation of the system. As a result, candidates who filed objections for more than five questions between November 24 and November 28 were inadvertently charged more than the prescribed Rs 250. They were charged Rs 50 for each question objected to, leading to an overcharge.
Announcement of Fee Refund
Acknowledging the issue caused by the technical glitch, the Bihar Board has now decided to refund the excess amount collected from the affected candidates. Those who had paid more than Rs 250 between November 24 and November 28 for filing objections on more than five questions will receive the extra amount back. The board has confirmed that the refunds will be processed and credited to the candidates’ bank accounts in December 2025.
Bihar Board’s Commitment to Transparency
This move reflects the Bihar Board’s commitment to transparency and its dedication to safeguarding the interests of students. It is also a significant relief for those waiting for the results of the STET 2025 exam. The board has advised all concerned candidates to keep an eye on the official website for further updates regarding the fee refund process.
This decision has provided much-needed assurance to candidates, ensuring that they will not be financially burdened due to the technical glitch. The refund process is expected to be smooth, and candidates are advised to regularly check for updates on the Bihar Board’s official website.
